The marine part is the first marine Transfrontier Conservation Area in Africa.
It is along this 80 km coastline that 80% of all loggerhead and leatherback turtles nesting sites in Mozambique are found.
The marine shoreline with its sandstone reefs supports diverse coral communities and rich sea life – from a myriad of tropical fish, humpback whales, dolphins, whale sharks, sea turtles and dugongs, to healthy seagrass beds and a kaleidoscope of coral reefs.
