Beware Malaria

Maputo National Park falls within a malaria zone.
Please consult your travel doctor/general practitioner about how you can prevent malaria and take the necessary precautions while visiting the park.

No feeding of Animals

No Littering

No pets

No driving after sunset

Stay in vehicle except at designated areas

No drones

No dangerous weapons

Safe driving distance from animals

No collection of firewood, fires in designated areas only

Camping in designated location only

No motorcycles, or quad bikes

Speed limit inside the park

No swimming in lakes or rivers

Prohibited consumption and sale of beverages

No offroad driving

No driving on beaches

Driving Areas – Off-road or driving on closed/no-entry roads is an offense and transgressors will be fined.

Licence – Only persons with a valid driver’s licence are permitted to drive in the park.

Behaviour – On game drives, remain in your vehicle at all times. Obey all the traffic signs in the park. Disrespectful behaviour including loud music and disobeying officials will not be tolerated.

Fauna & Flora – No plant, animal, marine, natural or cultural items may be damaged or removed from the Park. Killing or poaching of animals is strictly prohibited.

Behaviour near Wild Animals

  • Do not drive off the road
  • Do not follow the elephants or approach too closely
  • Do not make a noise or rev the engine
  • Move away slowly with respect when animals approach
  • Do not cut off their path
  • Elephants always have right of way
