Sustainable fishing

Agreements have been reached with communities on sustainable harvesting of reeds and fishing within the inland fresh water lakes. All fishermen require licenses and need to register their catches and comply with the various fishing regulations and zonations. Alternative livelihoods have been created with a Tilapia fish breeding programme and Mariculture (mussels) programme in Machangulo peninsula.
