After many years of absence Maputo Special Reserve (MSR) had the great pleasure of hosting Elands as a new tenant of the area in an operation that lasted approximately one week from capture in South Africa and offloading in MSR.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

In the total there were 21 eland reintroduced and it is a great pride for all who work for and for the reserve either for the possibility of restoring natural ecological processes with reintroduction of species that many had not yet had the opportunity to know like. The park managers say that they will continue to bring back species that for various reasons had been extinguished from the area and also to increase the population of other species in this important conservation area.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The Eland is a savannah and plains found in East and Southern Africa. Common elands form herds of up to 500 animals, but are not territorial. The common eland prefers habitats with a wide variety of flowering plants such as savannah, woodlands, and open and montane grasslands. It is a species that can reach up to 1.6 meters in height and weigh up to 942 kg being considered one of the largest antelope in the world.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The eland along with the oribi which was also reintroduced to the reserve in the September 2019 after a long absence will be at the top of the list of wildlife animal that the tourists are preparing to see on their December holidays.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

They are also expected this season of 2019 coming from South Africa a diversity of species among zebras, giraffes, impalas, wild beast and kudus in an operation supported by National Fund for Sustainable Development truth MOZBIO program and implemented by the National Administration for Conservation Areas in partnership with Peace Parks Foundation<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
